Since taking on the role of Plant Manager at Motor Specialty on Monday, May 4th, Dean Geary has already been making a considerable impression.

According to Executive Vice President Charles Helm, ”In a very short period of time, Dean has already demonstrated his ability to work with machines he’s never seen before and fix them in practically no time at all.”

Dean has been working in manufacturing for a total of 37 years, 32 of which were in the Racine area, and 29 of which he was working as a Plant Manager. In addition, Dean has 34 years of electric motor experience.

In addition to his years of valuable experience and his familiarity with Racine area manufacturing, Charles says that Motor Specialty was impressed by Dean’s “mechanical know-how and problem solving abilities,” which made him the perfect choice for the position.

“He brings a common sense approach, which is similar to how we do things here (at MSI), and a willingness to learn everything he can about the plant and our employees. We’re so happy to have him on our team.”

Dean says that his passion for manufacturing and working with electric motors stems from the fact that he “enjoys the challenge presented by this line of work.” When asked about transitioning into his new role as Plant Manager at Motor Specialty, Dean remarks, “Motor Specialty looks like they’re going places.”

He goes on to say, “A lot of manufacturing has been going to China lately, and I like that MSI prides themselves on being American-made,” another factor which attracted him to the company.

In addition to facing manufacturing challenges head-on, Dean enjoys reading and going camping in Northern Wisconsin in his spare time. He is also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
